So by and large I write solely about riding bikes here which is the reason I set the blog up in the first place. Being able to reflect on what I have done, what I want to do and how I plan on doing it has been quite cathartic.
I only promote my blog on Instagram and love the feedback I get frim people on there and engaging with other cyclists the world over.
The cycling community at large are an amazing bunch of people and that is something I am hoping I can tap into a bit more in the coming months for the benefit of others.
Change starts at home
Walking into work at 7:30am in December and seeing people in empty storefronts huddled under mounds of blankets left me feeling a bit helpless. I don’t pretend to fully understand the complexities of what can lead people to end up on the streets but there are people out there who do.
It made me reflect on how fortunate I have been in my life. I’ve never had to sleep outdoors involuntarily. I know where my next meal is coming from. My days aren’t filled with stress, worry and insecurity. And to be honest I can’t imagine how that must feel.
Especially for young adults.
I can’t imagine being 17, 18 or 19 and being homeless.
And I don’t think that as a society we should accept that either. Now, I am not for a second saying that this can be fixed solely through some fund raising, but in the current economic climate anything we can give as a community to help support those currently in a vulnerable position is something I DO believe we should be doing.
And here is what I want to do…
I want to try and raise £850 for a local charity that specialise in supporting young people. Whilst the amount might seem a bit of a strange number it representative of 50p per kilometre of my main race in July.
Swansea Young Single Homeless Program run a number of programs and housing projects in the Swansea area to help young, single homeless people through some incredibly difficult times in their lives.
If you want to make a direct donation to help these people continue doing the amazing work they do, then you can donate directly at the link below. Even if its just a few pounds/Euros/Dollars/Roubles/Ruppees what ever you can spare is going to help these young people get the support they need.

I’m still working on a few things in the background to try and raise the target I have set so please check back or message me on Instagram if you can help me hit the goal!
Just in case you need it again, here’s the link again: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tim-needham1
Follow it, donate, share it, print it out and have it made into a car sticker. Help me hit this target and support this amazing charity supporting young people at a really tough time.
